Out & about in the local area

With a new shopping guide produced by the local tourism association, the bustling market town of Oswestry has a wealth of wonderful independent shops – gifts, clothes, antiques and delicatessens.

Ellesmere too is worth exploring, combine a shopping visit with a walk along the canal, or a meal in a café by the Mere. Further afield, you can discover local craft centres and traditional village shops.

Walks & Trails

Full of wonderful local food and keen to experience the delights of the area, we want to share some of the secrets of our countryside with you.

We know how good it is to find those hidden places that only the locals seem to know about, and we want to share them with you so that you can really see what our countryside is about. There are a series of trails that link the canal with the surrounding countryside; recent work has improved the stiles and gates and bridges, and there are interpretation panels to tell you all about the area too. You can pick up a set of maps from your accommodation, or the local TIC.
