About the canalThe Montgomery Canal is part of the national network of over 200 miles of waterway. It runs for 35 miles, from Lower Frankton in England to Newtown in Wales, and is connected to the Llangollen Canal, one of the most popular waterways in Europe. Although not all of the Montgomery Canal is navigable by boat, there are ample opportunities for quiet recreation such as walking and fishing. The canal is noted for its nature conservation value, with a number of important designations along its length.
